British Summer Event Styling: Ascot, Wimbledon and Henley

From Royal Ascot to Wimbledon and the Henley Regatta, our summer schedule is jampacked with some serious fashion events – but what to wear? To make sure you capture the true spirit of these world-famous British sporting events (and their dress codes too) we’ve come up with some gorgeous styling choices to carry you through the season.

Everybody knows that Royal Ascot is all about the fabulous hats, they’re second to the horseracing only by an inch, but the rest of your outfit is just as important at this prestigious five-day event. From fascinators to florals, top hats, pastels and lace, Royal Ascot is one of fashion’s biggest events. Royal Ascot has a notoriously strict dress code, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experiment a little, and considering the eccentric headwear some racegoers don, you’ll want something that’s both traditional and elegant, but contemporary too.

Our Louisa Dress in Dreamy Dahlias is the perfect choice for sipping champagne and nibbling scones with fresh cream while you debate what colour the Queen will wear this year (our bet’s on pink). Pair it with a classic black fascinator or a wide brim hat for a modern take on that iconic “off to the races” look.

Another quintessentially British event, Wimbledon, where tennis meets summer fashion for two weeks of (hopefully) glorious sporting sunshine. While not as strict as Ascot’s dress code, Wimbledon has its own quirky trends, from tea dresses to straw boaters and punnets upon punnets of strawberries (34,000kg last year, to be exact!).

While the players traditionally wear white, you can mix it up a bit in preppy prints and summery colours. For a fresh look that can be paired with pop socks and sandals or even a preppy tennis shoe for a sartorial nod to the occasion, our Federica Dress in Cuban Cocktails will serve you an ace in the fashion stakes.

Held just a few weeks after Ascot, the Henley Royal Regatta is about as summery as English events come. Held on the banks of the River Thames, complete with picnics and Pimms, striped blazers and boat shoes, this 180-year-old event has a dress code that hasn’t changed much since its inception in 1839 – so think modest neck and hemlines but with a quirky twist that embodies the eccentricity of British fashion.

Featuring tiny sailboats on a lush blue and green landscape, our Frankie Dress in San Jose Bay is the perfect outfit to wear while cheering on those smoking hot rowers from the riverbanks. Wear with sturdy heels in nudes or brights and, of course, the obligatory straw hat.

So, whether its horseracing, tennis or boating, Emily and Fin have got your summer event styling covered. We’ll see you at the finish line, ladies!Source: The Londoner
